Paulie’s Vault

Paulie was a staple in the Syracuse music scene, and for 40 years he recorded shows of all genres from a multitude of venues. When he passed away he left behind a MASSIVE collection of completely unreleased recordings he had acquired. Most he did himself, some he got through the forgotten art of tape trading. Each episode will feature a whole set (or at least as much of the set as Paulie taped). Some are great sounding soundboards, others are decent audience recordings he made, some are just awful soundng that are here for history’s sake( fear not you will be forewarned). We hope you enjoy this collection of rarities, including a plethora of unheard Syracuse history. Brought to you by The Lost Horizon. Theme song by Greg Pier.

Here is another extremely crazy thing that happened and I had no idea. Allman Brothers at Manley Field House in Syracuse University at their peak in 1972. Obviously this is one Paulie traded for, but it is no doubt an important piece of Syracuse history. The sound is phenomenal, so kick back and relax and enjoy this incredible set.

On this episode we have a killer set from Ecliptic Vision at The Lost Horizon on June 29, 2018. The intro is done by their vocalist Josh Rivet. This is also my first attempt at doing audio cleanup and I think I did a damn good job.

Here's another one of those things I Can't believe happened. The sound was pretty damn good, and then I sent it to Jason "Jocko" Randall at Moresound Studios and he really polished it up. This is the best recording I have ever heard from the "Symphonies Of Sickness" tour.

Here it is, the one you metalheads have been salivating over. Slayer at The Lost Horizon fresh off the release of "Reign In Blood". The sound starts off rough for the first 30 seconds then it gets better. The majority of the show I would give a B- in audio quality, but holy hell, the fact that this crazy thing is documented is a gift to all of us.

On this episode we have a great sounding recording of The Temptations' set at the NYS Fair 08/28/18. They still sound great!

This one right here is a real gem. Milton's Disciples were one of the very first punk/ hardcore bands in Syracuse. This episode features their "Milton A Go-Go" demo and a set from The Lost Horizon. The live set can sound a little rough at points, but this right here is Syracuse history. This may very well be the Jurassic period of ACHC.

Here we have the first episode featuring a show that Paulie traded for instead of recorded, there's a metric shit ton of those too. This first one features a great set from White Zombie. I give the sound a solid B all the way through. A great set.

On this one we get a set from Full Of Hell while they are on tour with Cattle Decapitation and Revocation. The sound on this is a B-/C+, but if you are a fan of FOH its an enjoyable 25 minutes.

On this Episode you get a great set from Youth Code, even though they had a few technical issues that night they played a great set. This is when they opened for Baroness.

Friday Aug 23, 2024

On this episode we have a highly energetic set from 108, I haven't seen any other recordings around from this era so this is a real treat.
